To clarify, for the rest of this season:

1. Tenby Aces riders (or other CTT affiliated clubs) can ride the club TTs without having to join the Velos for £3, or join 2nd claim and ride for £2.50.

2. Riders who are not members of Velos or Aces (or any other CTT affiliated club) can ride 1 Timetrial as a 'Come and Try it' after which they need to join a CTT affiliated club (not necessarily Velos) and pay the appropriate fee from then on.

3. Riders under the age of 18 must submit a parental consent before being able to race. Forms
here.

23/03/13

New Season : Not long to go now so get your preferred dates for marshalling to us asap (email address at bottom of this page) as only the first 3 marshals for any race will get the credit!

16/06/12

Pembrey Crits: For those who have not seen the Facebook page, the Pembrey Crit series has been cancelled by the race circuit owners. More information is available on either the Pembrokeshire Velo or Towy Riders Facebook pages.

12/06/12

Broad Haven Triathlon: Pembrokeshire Tri Club are promoting the Broad Haven Triathlon on 7th July and are looking for marshals for the bike course.

The event starts at 10:30, so the marshal duties on the bike course would begin at around 10:50, subject to position of course and a prior briefing. So expect a couple of hours for each person.

Weather is guaranteed to be good ;-) so it might be nice for a group to ride out, marshal and ride home. If you're able to help, email Dave Astins (david.astins@btopenworld.com) at the tri club and also me (davidhawkins768@yahoo.co.uk) and I will let you know who else is marshalling so that you can ride across together.

09/06/12 Interclub : First interclub event of the season is being held on Wednesday 13th June on the Neyland course. First rider off at 7pm with registration from c6pm. If you are able to marshal then please let yourself be known asap.
28/05/12

Clothing: The club still has a stock of mainly short sleeve jerseys and socks available. Please email or call for more information.

e-mail - davidhawkins768@yahoo.co.uk
Phone - 07780 697867

For items not in stock, they can be ordered individually from Impsport by going to the website www.yourclubshop.co.uk, clicking on "Your Club Shop" and entering the password PEMBK1243.

28/05/12

Membership: There are a number of people who are yet to rejoin for 2012. Whilst one club time trial can be completed under the "come and try it" rule, for subsequent time trials, you must be a member of a CTT affiliated club and to qualify for the club championships, you must be a member who has completed appropriate marshaling duties AFTER your date of joining.

The 2012 membership form is here and completed forms with cheques should be sent to Bryan asap.

27/03/12 Forum : We're currently having some difficulties with the forum and it's going to be off-line for a while. If anybody knows much about phpBB3 (specifically about migrating historical data to a new host) then please make yourself known. In the meantime the Forum link above will open the Pembs Velo Facebook page which may prove to be popular than the forum anyway.
25/0312 Entry Fees : Just a reminder that the cost to enter a club TT event this season has been increased to £3 (£2 for Juniors & Juveniles). The reason for this is because for every name on the start sheet we have to pay a levy of £2 to the CTT - if you forget to pay or underpay then we still have to pay £2.
12/03/12 The first race of the season was held yesterday with a fine win by Nick Merrony, bettering by one position the 2nd place achieved by his brother Nigel in the same event at the start of last season.

Just hope he hasn't peaked too early ;o)

Full results can be viewed by clicking the Results button.
27/02/12 The TT schedule for 2012 can now be viewed by clicking the button to the right. The first event is only 2 weeks away - Neyland on March 11th.

If you don't fancy it then you could always marshal - remember to let us know in advance (email link at bottom of this page) if you want it to count as one of your 3 marshalling duties.
27/02/12 Money Saving Tip - You can save £5 if you act very quickly by visiting this link.
04/01/12 Membership is now due. Until the end of February, family memberships are only £20 and adult memberships are only £15 - both discounted by £5!

The 2012 membership form is here and completed forms with cheques should be sent to Bryan asap.
03/01/12 Turbo restarts this Thursday (5th January) at Unit 4, Richmond Road, Pembroke Dock. 6:45pm for a prompt 7pm start. If coming to club turbo sessions is not one of your new year's resolutions, it should be!!!

My plan is to start building up to the forthcoming season with session running through until the end of March.
16/11/11 Last call for anybody wanting to come to the dinner. I need to know by Friday at the latest. You can e-mail me, phone me or leave a message in the forum thread about the dinner. Details on the dinner can also be found here.

e-mail - davidhawkins768@yahoo.co.uk
Phone - 07780 697867
16/10/11 You too can experience the miraculous body transformation experienced by Mr Chubbolini. All you need to do is come to The Foundry in Pembroke on Thursdays (starting Oct 20th); doors open at 6.30 with the show beginning at 7.00. All it's going to cost you is £2 (and a bucket of sweat) each week. Spaces are strictly limited, so be early, or be prepared to slip your entertainer packets of Jaffa Cakes if you want to reserve a space.

2909/11 This years AGM is being held on Tuesday 11th October commencing 7pm at The Foundry in Pembroke. If anybody has something they would like to see on the agenda then please contact Mike George asap.
15/09/11 And that's your lot until the middle of March 2012 - 180 days and counting!

If anybody has any corrections/additions/disputes about results/PB's/records/standings during the season then please email so that we can make sure all information is correct. The longer it's left the more likely it is that it will never get corrected - and what appears on the website reflects the awards that will be made at the end of season bash - details of which will appear here soon.
09/09/11 The Neyland TT on Sunday is cancelled. Good luck to everybody taking part in the Ironman and the R25/3L and hopefully the weather isn't going to be as bad as forecast!

The last club event of the season is the Milton Hill Climb on Wednesday 14th September with first rider off at 7pm ... all welcome ;o)
07/09/11 Our final 10 mile club TT is due to be held at Neyland on Sunday but clashes with a couple of events - a TT on the R25/3L and some sort of multi-sport / swimming gala / jogging event thing in Tenby ;o)

This means quite a few of our regular riders won't be taking part at Neyland. At the HC tonight nobody was certain they would be doing the Neyland TT. It will go ahead if some riders want to do it but you need to commit in advance otherwise it's going to get cancelled. If you want to ride at Neyland then post to the forum by Friday at the latest.

Next Wednesday's HC is still being held and will be the last club event of the season so let's see a good turnout :o)
02/09/11

The last 10 mile club TT of the season is being held on Sunday 11th September at Neyland and YES WE NEED MARSHALS!

So if you're not riding then come along and see some people suffer - but please let us know first. And then once that's over we can all go over the bridge and see Chubbs, Ian, Kev, Mark and Neil suffer and
suffer and suffer ....
30/08/11 Well done to everybody who took part in the Open events and thanks to all the marshals, to Rachel and Helen (the bacon butty chefs) and the Event Secretary Mike George. Full Open Results are here.

17/08/11 We could do with a couple of extra marshals for next weeks (Aug 24th) Redberth 15. If you haven't yet fulfilled your two marshalling duties then that would be a good one to choose.

Don't just rely on others turning up - email now to let us know!
16/08/11 Pembs Velo Open Events : If you haven't entered yet then you need to get a move on! The deadline for entry to all three events is being extended until Sunday 21st August so make sure you get your entry in the post by Friday 19th August at the latest. Full details on how to apply can be found here.

For any members who aren't riding then your support on either Sunday or Monday would be very much appreciated - just let us know in advance and we can then allocate the various roles appropriately.
01/08/11 Interclub evening provisionally booked for Friday 19 August at The Carew Inn. All welcome; if interested then post your name in the forum.
21/07/11

There are just 12 more club events left (inc. our open weekend events) for members to achieve the two required marshalling sessions in order to appear on the club standings and league table for this season. We've still got quite a few people who have yet to take the plunge - don't be shy, it's easy and full training is available ;o)  Just have a look at the TT schedule and then email as to when you are available - but remember to let us know in advance otherwise it won't count!

Remember, for safety, when racing (or training/commuting) to KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!
21/07/11 We have a small stock of club clothing available for purchase. You can see what is available here; if interested then either email or have a word with Chubbs.
11/07/11 The final inter-club TT of the year is the Redberth 10 (map here - start at green triangle, down to Carew roundabout, back past start to sharp Redberth turn. Old road to Sageston, back past start and sharp Redberth turn again and then finish at pink square) on Wednesday 12th July. Signing-on is at Carew cricket club car park from 6pm with first rider off at 7pm. Bear in mind that the start line is 3.5 miles from signing-on.

Due to the likely high number of riders taking part a few considerations :-

1.  Anyone not riding would be welcomed as a marshal - just make yourself known at signing-on and you'll be assigned a task.
2.  When signing-on try and place yourself in an appropriate start slot, with slower riders going off early and faster riders later.
3.  For safety reasons when riding to the start please take the old Redberth back road, rather than riding along the main A477.
4.  Refrain from warming up on the course once the first riders have started.
5.  On completion of your ride be aware of other riders who may still be riding at race pace with a lap still to go so PLEASE KEEP IN!
6.  Leave the time keepers alone until all riders have finished. Results will be posted to the website within 24 hours of the finish.
06/07/11 A few changes to the club TT schedule made in order to space out similar events :-

Wed 10th Aug - Neyland 10, not Milton HC
Wed 31st Aug - Bangeston 10, not Redberth 15
Wed 14th Sep - Milton HC (new event)

The new dates are now shown on the Club TT Schedule. If you were down to marshal on a specific date then you are still shown for that date - if anyone wants to change their marshalling dates so they can ride a particular event then email.
06/07/11 For those that haven't heard yet about the Welsh 12 Hour Championship held on Sunday 3rd July :-

1st Paul Colman 267.620 miles

Welsh Champion

4th Cliff Jackson 258.623 miles
6th Nick Brown 253.425 miles

Welsh Champion Team is Pembrokeshire Velo - won by Paul, Cliff and Nick :o)

30/06/11 Who is really the best? In readiness for it all kicking off on Saturday Jeff has set up a Pembs Velo Tour de France Fantasy League. Come on get stuck in and see where you come! You can select your own riders and join up here. The league is called Pembs Velo League and the password is pembsvelo.

Currently we have the following aspiring
directeur sportifs - Jeff, Tom, Pete, Luke, Jon, Mike, Chubbs and Jill.
27/06/11 The second inter-club TT is the Redberth 15 (map here - start at green triangle, down to PD roundabout, back past start to finish at pink square) on Wednesday 29th June.

A small number of the first start slots will be held back for slower riders should they arrive at signing-on a little late.
3.  For safety reasons when riding to the start please take the old Redberth back road, rather than riding along the main A477.
4.  Refrain from warming up on the course once the first riders have started.
5.  On completion of your ride be aware of other riders so PLEASE KEEP IN!
6.  Leave the time keepers alone until all riders have finished. Results will be posted to the website within 24 hours of the finish.
7.  An ideal location for post-ride chatter is the Carew Inn :o)
21/06/11 In yet another attempt to get people to marshal, as from Wednesday 6th July the full club standings shown on the website will only be provided for members who have marshalled at least twice (or have committed to marshal at least twice). The number of marshalling sessions required is being reduced from three to two - so email now and get your name on the marshalling schedule!
15/06/11 Tenby Aces have their Open 10 mile TT on Sunday 26th June starting at 7.30am on the R10/11a - only two chances of breaking Pete Lloyd's record this year so who is going to have a go? Closing date for entries being delayed until Friday 17th so you will need to post entries by Thursday 16th at the latest. Entry is £7, payable to Tenby Aces CC and post to G. Rees, Vale View, Valley Close Saundersfoot, Pembs SA69 9BS.
09/06/11 The first inter-club TT of the season is on Wednesday 15th June on the Neyland course. Signing on will start at about 6pm with first rider off at 7pm. Lets do our best to get as many Velos out as we can and retain the trophy!
08/06/11 Weather update : Forecast is now saying that Sunday is going to be rainy and blowing a gale ... how likely is that! So unless you have a real excuse lets see as much pink as possible at the ToP - entry deadline now extended to midday on Thursday 9th June.
02/06/11 Just a gentle reminder ...
Regulation 21 of the CTT
"Competitors must ride entirely alone and unassisted and not ride in company or take shelter (commonly known as drafting) from other riders or vehicles. A competitor overtaking another must pass without receiving or giving shelter. The onus of avoiding company riding shall be upon the rider overtaken."
01/06/11 Entries for the Tour of Pembrokeshire close on June 8th. Currently we've got 7 PV's entered. I know it clashes with the Welsh 50 mile TT but if you're not doing that then get your entry in - it's going to be a sunny, windless day :o)
01/06/11 Marshals wanted - no volunteers yet for the event on 8th June. If you can marshal then, or any other date, then please send an email.
19/05/11 Any rider who is wondering why they don't see their name on the Standings and PB pages - it's because you haven't joined the club yet! You can download a copy of the Club Membership Form from the Publications page. Full details about what you need to do are on the form; any questions then just email.
23/04/11 The new start for the Bangeston 10 mile is from the entrance to the industrial estate signposted Paterchurch. Plenty of parking available in the estate, the course is now out to the Sageston roundabout and back with the finish almost opposite the start.
21/04/11 Some new photos by Richard Martin available on the Pembrokeshire Velo Flickr site which capture pretty well the pain of TT'ing! If anybody else has any photos they'd like to share then just upload them to the Pembs Velo Facebook page.
18/04/11 Lots of information from the old website still needs to be moved onto the new site but in the meantime it's still all accessible by clicking the link to the Old Website on the right.
13/04/11 It's that time again .... marshals needed! Lots of gaps in the next few weeks and remember you only got credited for marshalling if you let us know in advance - just turning up on the night without prior notice doesn't count towards your membership obligation of three events. All you need to do is email info@pembsvelo.co.uk.
10/04/11 Anyone under 18 planning to do the Come and Try / Old School event on Sunday 17th April will need to get this form signed by a parent/guardian. There is more information on this event below but if anyone has any questions then just send an email to the address shown at the bottom of this page.
16/03/11 Checkout the Gallery page and get access to the Pembs Velo Facebook photos. If you have any interesting photos then join the Facebook group and upload.
13/03/11 For those sportive fans amongst us there are three local-ish events coming up in the next few months. First up is the Preseli Angel on the 1st May which starts in Newport Pembs and offers two challenging routes of either 47 miles or 86 miles. Then on June 12th we have our own Tour of Pembrokeshire starting in Saundersfoot with three ride options of either 63, 82 or 117 miles. Finally on July 3rd we have the Merlin Ride, again with three route options, either 50, 70 or 104 miles starting from the National Botanical Gardens in Llanarthne, Carmarthenshire.
13/03/11 A bit like with the first day of the football season when the league tables don't mean much (sorry Nige!) but they get printed anyway - hot off the press are the 2011 Velo Standings. The format of the standings has changed slightly as it makes the weekly updating more straightforward but all the important stuff stays the same. Any comments or mistakes spotted then please email. You can download the standings spreadsheet from the Results page.
09/03/11 As we are on the subject of marshals there are still lots of gaps available. Don't be shy and don't just rely on somebody else turning up to marshal. Email to address below for when you are available - you can always change your dates later but lets try and get more names in boxes!
09/03/11 For those who haven't marshalled before here is a summary of what is expected from the team of marshals at any club TT :-

1. Collect TT organisers bag at previous weeks club TT or arrange to pick up.
2. Drive course immediately prior to event.
3. Put out flags at specified locations.
4. Collect money, check it, bag it and pass to Brian Jones (or any Cmtte member).
5. Time keep and push off.
6. Position any spare marshals at strategic points on course.
7. Record finish times
8. Assist timekeeper by telling riders who want to know their times to "get lost and wait".
9. Collect flags.
10. Pass bag to marshal for next event.
11. Pub.

09/03/11 The dates of some club TT events have been changed. The cause being that some were scheduled to be held on Sunday mornings at the same time as Carew market was likely to be generating heavy traffic. The schedule has been amended and now shows the current event dates. Marshals for specific dates have not been changed so if you had wanted to marshal at a particular location be aware that this may have changed - email to address below if you need to amend.
28/02/11 In an effort to get some dosh into the clubs bank account we've added a small banner advert from Ribble to the website. If you click on the ad you get taken to the Ribble website and any purchases you make will result in a commission payable to Pembs Velo. The amounts we can earn are as follows :-

5% on all parts, accessories and clothing
2% on all sales that include a frame or fork
1% on all sales that include a bike

Commission is paid on the purchase price (excluding VAT and P&P). No commission is paid if you use an "apply code" option at the checkout.

For us to get the commission you must access the Ribble site by clicking on the advert.

We won't get rich but every little bit helps!
25/02/11 Money Saving Tip - You can save £5 if you act very quickly by visiting this link.
21/02/11

On Sunday the 17th April the Pembrokeshire Velo Cycling Club will be holding a ‘Come and Try it’ Time Trial to welcome prospective new members to the exciting world of cycle racing. It’s the perfect opportunity for anyone who’s ever wanted to test themselves against the clock, whether you just want to race yourself, or see how you compare to your friends.

The trial will be held over a course of approximately 2 miles (as shown on this map), starting in Waterston, proceeding up Scoveson Road to the Sentry Cross roundabout, before retracing back along the Scoveson Road finishing just prior to the turning to Neyland.

Entry is open to anyone over the age of 12 and competitors can sign up on the day, the first riders will be starting at 10.00am but we would encourage entrants to aim to arrive around half an hour before to sign on, the price for entry is £2 for adults and under-18s can ride free of charge.

Riders MUST wear a safety helmet to take part and can do so on almost any form of bicycle (no TT bikes or pointy hats though!), so long as it is in roadworthy condition. It is also highly recommended that riders have a flashing red light fixed to the rear of their bike to enhance their visibility to other road users. The day will also provide an opportunity to talk to current members, who’ll be able to answer any questions about cycle-sport.

More info in the forum.

15/02/11 For anybody thinking about entering an Open TT event this year a full listing of all Welsh events is available on the South Wales District website. The entry process involves filling in a standard CTT entry form and mailing to the organiser with a cheque. To find out who the organiser is you'll either need to buy a copy of the 2011 handbook or ask somebody who has.
14/02/11 The price for renewing membership for 2011 increases by £5 on 28th February so get your completed forms and cheques! to Bryan asap.
14/02/11 Night out planned for Friday 4th March at Kookaba, Saundersfoot - table booked for 9pm. Numbers are restricted so, if you haven't already indicated you want to go, email asap to address at bottom of page.
14/02/11 For 2011 we want to try and arrange marshals as far in advance as possible so if you are going to marshal please let us know, rather than just turning up on the night. Remember you have to marshal at 3 events at least, to be eligible for awards or appear in the final standings at the end of the season. Just send an email to the address shown at the bottom of the page and the marshalling schedule will be updated. If you haven't marshalled before then put yourself down as the 3rd marshal for the first time so you can see what is expected. First come, first served so get yourselves on the list as only the first three marshals count!
14/02/11 The list of club time trials is now available (see link on the right), the first of which is being held on the Neyland course on Sunday 13th March at 10am.
14/02/11

Club news and announcements will be made on the homepage of the website (rather than on the forum), with Results, Publications etc. accessible from the links at the top of the homepage. It's going to take a while for all the historical information to be added so in the meantime you can still access the old website from the link on the right.
